City of Los Angeles

California, Usa

Project Summary:

The project, which is part of a larger plan to reduce environment impact, calls for retrofitting a total of more than 140,000 high-pressure sodium (HPS) luminaires to LED technology over the next five years throughout the residential districts of Los Angeles. There will be mostly Ledway Road with 40 or 60 LEDs (TS optics) with a 4,300K colour temperature replacing existing 100 and 150W High-Pressure Sodium devices.

Energy Savings:

It is estimated that the LED lighting will reduce the city’s energy consumption by 40%, as well as carbon monoxide emissions by 40,500 tonnes per year. The drop in CO2 emissions due to the decrease in the consumption of electric power can be compared to the elimination of 6,700 automobiles from circulation.
