The collaboration between Cree Lighting, Siram-Veolia and the municipality of San Giuliano Terme set the stage for the total urban illumination redevelopment of the historic town, located in the province of Pisa.

The Municipality needed to identify a partner for a wideranging, long-lasting management agreement through a public-private partnership formula, an instrument that would allow the synergy between public and private entities, with the aim of financing and managing interventions of modernization, attracting more investment resources and specific skills.

A New Light for the Municipality of San Giuliano: the structural modernization of the electricity grid will definitively eliminate the problem of faulty lights, breakdowns and blackouts; "San Giuliano Terme really changes its light" commented Mayor Sergio Di Maio "this intervention will allow citizens to save money and drastically reduce the breakdowns that unfortunately continue to occur due to outdated systems that need modernization”.

In detail, 100% of the public lighting network is to be modernized with the supply of over 5.063 new LED technology light fixtures by Cree Lighting which include street lighting, city beautification and LED kits for the upgrade of vintage lanterns, in addition to projectors, for an estimated 60% in consumption savings, a reduction of 448.65 tons of greenhouse gases and 230 toe (tons of oil equivalent) per year.

The relative economic savings between lower consumption and the absence of a periodic lamp replacement and maintenance need, was estimated by the operators involved to be over 218 thousand euros a year. The project will also allow for further territorial development, thanks to the involvement of numerous local companies that will take part in the works.

In addition to the municipal center "This intervention - underlines the commissioner for public works Francesco Corucci - will affect all the fractions of our municipality and we will be able to document the works along the way, both on the institutional website and on our social channels."
