Project Summary

The Forgital group is one of the global leaders in the production and seamless hot rolled ring and disc forging in steel and titanium alloys for all sectors of the mechanical transmission industry.

Industrial Lighting - The lighting of an industrial plant requires a very "intelligent" distribution of light.
The warehouse, the loading and unloading area, the parking lot, the transit areas: all microcosms within a single production reality, each with its own challenges and, therefore, with specific lighting needs.
Vicenza, It
In August 2013, a pilot project was launched for the testing of Quantum technologies for intelligent lighting management at the Forgital plant in Velo d'Astico, in the province of Vicenza. During the design and planning phase, our technicians had to take into consideration the environmental operating conditions of the luminaires, exposed to extremely critical situations both for the high temperatures of the areas and for the electromagnetic noises induced by the rolling mills and presses.

A successful project that made it possible to complete in December 2014 the replacement of the factory's old lighting systems with over 600 LED Cree Lighting fixtures equipped with Quantum's QLight control and management system. Furthermore, at the end of 2015 the renovation of the system in the external perimeter areas was completed, which made the main square and the parking area safer even at night.

The project therefore involved various sectors of the plant: the entire internal industrial complex, the areas of technical processing, the loading and unloading area, as well as the parking area and the entire perimeter of the industrial site. In total, 439 Ledway Multi were used for the perimeter and external areas which replaced the previous 125 Watt discharge luminaires, while for the yard and parking of the plant, the old 1000W and 500W iodide lamps were replaced FORGING THE FUTURE OF INDUSTRIAL LIGHTING by 2 Edge ™ HO 240L and 5 XSP1. Finally, for the internal lighting of the plant, the old 400W metal halide lamps were replaced with 18 304 Series.
The annual consumption of the Forgital industrial site was reduced by 75%, with a significant reduction of harmful emissions into the environment equivalent to about 4,000 tons of CO2 and a return on investment calculated approximately in one year.

All devices are also equipped with Quantum’s "Industrial Internet of Things" software which regulates the flow of each light point and governs the lighting criteria of the entire system resulting in 25% more energy savings and the consequent environmental impact, compared to a normal LED installation.

For this important project, over 600 cree lighting led luminaires were used for optimized visibility in different areas of the entire plant, from the technical processing areas to the external ones.

Thanks to the efficiency of cree lighting leds, it was possible to offer forgital significant energy savings of 75%, with a fast return on investment and a reduction in maintenance costs compared to the old lighting system.
